Settings > Do not disturb > On
All you need to do so your notifications, texts and calls hold off. Bianca Bosker, the Senior Tech Editor of the Huffington Post, explained:
The Do Not Disturb tool marks a refreshing admission by a tech company that we actually have a life beyond our gadgets, and for all the good it does to be wedded to our devices, every now and again we need to trade FaceTime for face-to-face time. It's Apple's way of saying, "Hey, there's a life out there you need to pay attention to!" The simple change of the iOS 6 software might also be the stepping stone to regain solitude.
Picture this: it's a saturday afternoon, you go outside, turn on the Do not disturb on your iPhone and read a book with no interruptions. Well, it sounds good to me.

ReplyDeleteGood post! Almost ironic how one of the most popular forms of technology has allowed its users to disconnect- but it's a very good thing. Lets take a small step back for a moment and enjoy life where you are.
I think that this a really interesting capability for the iPhone. I think that we have all gotten way too reliant on technology, and rarely ever give ourselves time to disconnect and have time for ourselves. Although I am guilty of letting technology absorb all of my time, I think that I will start using this capability to learn to stop feeding into other people's thoughts via Twitter and Facebook and just have time to sit and read a book as you said to have time to reconnect with myself.
ReplyDeletePretty amazing how some "blessings" turn against us. You, as always,a good read, filled with insight that only a true observer can reach.
